The centre’s current headquarters are in the award-winning Active Office on Swansea University’s Bay Campus, described as a global exemplar expected to deliver an economic impact of more than £3bn over 10 years.

The Campus has state-of-the-art facilities, direct access to the beach, and its own seafront promenade.

LIVING LAB HQ

The Active Building Centre are developing our own Living Lab Headquarters, 5 minutes from the centre’s current location. The building, showcasing the Active Building concept, will be our base for up to 100 staff in an open plan office space.

We plan to move into our new HQ Autumn 2020.

  • Trial areas to demonstrate and evaluate new renewable energy technologies
  • Roof incorporating building integrated photovoltaic (PV) panels, battery storage, solar thermal collectors and thermal storage

SWANSEA, WALES WATERFRONT CITY

Situated on the doorstep of the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Swansea (population 245,000) offers ready access to 32 miles of stunning coastline with more than 50 named beaches and coves.

The city itself has a vibrant cultural and social offering, with an active live music scene and thriving theatres complemented by a reputation for excellent restaurants, cafés and bars.

City on the move

The Liberty Stadium is home to Championship football and European rugby, and the city’s sporting offering includes the Wales National Pool, beach and watersports facilities, and a popular series of 10k runs, half marathons and triathlons.

The city of Swansea itself is set to undergo a £500 million regeneration. Plans include a 3,500 seat arena, aquarium, restaurants and hotels, and significantly enhanced retail provision.
